Abstract

It is well known that the most important piece of infrastructure for delivery of health services is the medical equipment. However, despite its enormous importance, equipment has not received proper attention in terms of planning, incorporation and management. This article presents a series of processes composed of logically sequenced activities that may be used as a conceptual framework by local, regional and national health authorities for planning, incorporation and management of medical equipment. It is expected that the basic framework herein described might be timely and applicable for developing countries currently looking for financial assistance from international agencies to improve their health care programs.
